Benalmadena
Marina
A visit to Benalmadena would not be complete without a
visit to the popular Benalmadena marina, also known as
"Puerto Benalmadena" or "Puerto de Benalmadena". It's a
thriving marina boasting some great bars and restaurants.
You can even jump on one of many boat rides that operate
daily to go and see the dolphins out in the bay. This
amazing marina is one of the best equipped in the
Mediterranean and is great for strolling. The marina area is
loaded with interesting shops and cafés, and has been
awarded the European blue flag award for its quality
services and cleanliness. More than 1,000 boats can be
moored here at one time and various activities and events
take place throughout the year. Its also very popular area
for locals and tourists alike, and is best known for its
numerous bars and nightclubs.
Castillo de
Colomares
Located near the Archaeological Museum, Castillo de
Colomares is a striking monument to Christopher Columbus,
commanding a fine vantage point over Benalmadena Pueblo.
Consisting of several striking turrets and archways, the
castle features many architectural styles and offers some
great views of the sea. The Castillo de Colomares (Colomares
Castle) is even more eccentric, if such a thing is possible.
It was built by Esteban Martín with the aid of two
bricklayers between 1987 and 1994 and dedicated to the
discovery of America. Every possible architectural style is
brought together in this structure in a strange, almost
dreamlike and visually gripping conjunction.
Benalmadena Golf
Benalmadena golf not only offers an excellent 9 hole par
3 course it is also an innovative sports and leisure
complex.
With a very family and friendly atmosphere, its aim is
to make golf more accessible to the larger public and
does it very well.
Apart from the par 3 course the complex has a large
practice range for 48 people ( it is flood lit and open
to 11.00 pm most days ) , an extensive range of lessons
and courses open to golfers of all standards , a bowls
green, a great club house and a not to be missed
restaurant Baboo"
which offers fine Fusion cooking at very reasonable
prices.
For any people wishing to start I would highly recommend
the 3 hour baptism informal chat and course which will
take you through the basics of golf.
All this is all nicely washed down with a welcome
cocktail

Anthropologist and artist, who died in April 2001 at the age
of 90, inherited a collection of pre-Columbian relics from
his grandfather.

to the Benalmadena Town Hall, under the proviso that they
build a museum to house the precious pieces and appoint him
honorary director and curator for life. In February 1970, Sr. Orlando donated a further 138
pieces from Honduras, Costa Rica and Santo Domingo, bringing
